The Jack Petchey Foundation was formed in 1999 and since then has awarded grants totalling over £25 million to youth programmes across Essex and London.
Hackney Community College operates the Jack Petchey Foundation’s flagship Achievement Awards Scheme for our 14-25 year old students. The scheme aims to encourage and motivate learners by rewarding their outstanding progress / achievements.
What’s involved?
Each month, students from across the College vote for a Jack Petchey Student Achievement Award Winner. Students can be nominated for:
- academic achievement
- commitment
- motivation
- making a positive contribution in class and around the college
...and much moreWhat does the award winner receive?
- £200 to spend on a class activity or item of benefit to other students (in agreement with their class and tutor).
- A boxed medallion
- A framed certificate
- The opportunity to attend a prestigious award ceremony with friends and family
Past students have spent their prize money on the following:
- Class equipment
- External visits/trips
- Course materials
- Project materials
- Workshop tools
- Costumes and props for productions
It’s a fantastic scheme which supports students and encourages everyone to succeed.
