Get involved

Want to earn some extra cash and represent your College at the same time?

Becoming a Student Ambassador is a great way to do both. You’ll learn valuable skills for life, earn some money and it looks great on your CV!

Student Association (Union)

As a student you automatically become a member of Hackney Community College’s Student Association. There are elections for key positions for the Student Association Executives i.e. President Vice President, Equality and Diversity Officer, Media Officer, Women’s Officer, Entertainment Officer, Activity Officer, and Welfare Officer.

The President will be employed as a Sabbatical to support the Association, Student Leaders and the Student Leadership Council. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and have your say on what you want at the college, organise activities, events and campaigns for the Association and students. You can set up a club or a society and run activities for other students.

Student Leaders

Each course elects two student leaders who will be the main student contact for issues of concern whether it is about what’s happening on your course or in the College in general. Training is provided so all you need to have in the first place is an interest in student leadership.

Student Leadership Council

The Student Leadership Council is the highest decision-making body of the Association and is made up of Student Association executives and Student Leaders.

Have some fun!

Events and trips are organised for you and include things like Freshers’ Fair, prom, talent contests, motivational speakers, Valentine’s dance, trips abroad, ice-skating, bowling, visits to the cinema and theatre and the end of year bash!

What’s involved?

Jobs are varied and include promoting the College at events and exhibitions and distributing leaflets in shops and cafés.

What we expect of you

When you become an Ambassador, we’ll give you a full brief of what’s expected of you. But please note, you must have outstanding attendance, punctuality and behaviour records on your course – and be handing in your assignments on time, every time
