There’s loads of choice at HCC. You can choose from a wide range of A Levels and BTECs – and you can even mix and match them up – so you get the best of both worlds!
Unlike a school, you’ll study in an adult environment – and are treated with respect. Having a safe and secure sixth form centre within a larger college is fantastic. The campus is amazing and the facilities are really good – particularly the extensive library which includes lots of PCs and iPads for you to use.
We also have a student lounge where we can chill out with friends when we’re not studying – and an amazing sports centre – which is so good it was used as an Olympic training venue for the basketball teams during the London 2012 Games!
The teachers treat everyone as an adult and as an individual. They spend a lot of time listening to you and helping you with individual needs you have as well as run revision classes over the holidays. They really make sure that your voice is heard – and there are forums that you can participate in – and you make your own decisions. There are student advisers who offer fantastic careers advice – and can also give you access to hardship funds and other bursaries.
You’ll get to go on lots of field trips to complement the classroom lessons – including visits to universities and businesses in the area.
Your teachers can also help you to find internships with leading City Investment Banks – which really does set you apart from other university applicants. You can choose to become a Student Ambassador while studying, which as well as giving you paid work, also adds to your CV. You’ll gain a lot of customer service skills and make some great friends too.
Students really succeed at this college. As well as having some of the best pass rates for our BTECs and A Levels in East London, how far you progress while studying with us is really high – top in the country in fact!
Studying here gives you a natural progression into university, apprenticeships or employment. So come and have a look round, talk to tutors and students like me and see for yourself why so many people love studying here!
