Leah lands star role in reggae icon’s music video
Talented Hackney Community College student Leah Walker-Murrain landed a starring role in a music video for a famous reggae singer’s comeback track.
The 17 year old from Hackney stars as the lead character in the video for No, No, No (You Don’t Love Me) singer Dawn Penn’s new single ‘City Life’.
She plays a young dancer who dreams of escaping the troubles of city life and gives a moving performance as her character struggles to find the strength through dancing.
Leah, who is currently studying the Diploma in Creative Media Production on the On Track programme at HCC, was chosen for the main role after an impressive audition, fending off stiff competition from other dancers across the country.
She studies professional dance alongside her course at HCC.
The video is currently being shown on numerous popular music channels.
Leah said: “This was my first ever appearance in a music video and it was a great experience for me. Working with Dawn Penn was fantastic as she is an icon. The song and video is an honest reflection of city life – trying to make something out of life in a tough situation.”
