Media students land internships at BBC
Hackney Community College’s Media students Adam Hawkins and Jacek Geisler secured work placements at the BBC where they have been able to develop their skills and gain valuable experience.
Level 3 BTEC student Adam, aged 19 is currently working alongside top media professionals at BBC Sport on an upcoming swimming campaign called the Big Splash, which is aiming to encourage more people to pick up the sport in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Fellow Level 3 student Jacek, aged 21 completed his placement last month. He worked in the Sports Library for four weeks where he was responsible for loading programme clips on to the BBC Sport’s archive. He also worked behind the scenes with some of the TV production crew on different programmes.
Jacek, who intends to study TV Production at university once he finishes College, said: “I learnt a lot of new things at the BBC, especially about sport. I got to see first-hand how TV production works in a big corporation which was an interesting experience.”
Adam said: “I am enjoying working at the BBC. I’m definitely getting more of an understanding about the industry and making a lot of good contacts.”
