Annual Student Awards Winners 2011: Pat Mahoney Teamwork Award (recognising the Olympic / Paralympic value of Friendship)

Bonnitta, Phillip and Tiago were excellent representatives of the College at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. As well as visiting Vancouver to experience how a host city manages the vast catering demands during Games-time, they proudly volunteered to serve food, working alongside their new Canadian friends; and even catered for some Canadian celebrities! They worked impressively as a team and helped Aboriginal students to prepare a traditional meal, including ‘smoking the salmon’ for a Winter Olympics Fashion show.
Overall, they were very good ambassadors for both the College and the U.K. It was a great encouragement for the rest of the London City Hospitality Centre students to hear about their excellent teamwork and experiences when they returned from the trip.
All three learners have continued to progress and further their careers within the hospitality industry.
