Bringing a sparkle of light to London 2012
Hackney Community College Electrical Installation students Alannah Bascombe and Janine Griffiths are helping light up the Olympic Park for 2012, by working on the site as trainee electricians.
The Level 3 students secured the jobs through the College’s strong links with employers at the site.
Janine said: “In many ways my job on the Olympic Site is similar to any other electrical job, but it’s absolutely amazing to be part of something so huge in London.”
Alannah said: “My tutor George’s guidance has been excellent and he is a brilliant teacher. He makes sure that the reality of the workplace is built into our lessons – so it’s not been a massive shock working on the Olympic park.”
