Fatima makes IT work for her.
Hackney Community College Computing student Fatima Habib finishes top of her class despite not knowing how to use a PC until less than a year ago.
Fatima, who is from Ghana, successfully completed the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for IT Users course with top marks, while improving her English on an ESOL course at HCC.
She also managed to secure work experience within the College where she was able to impressively use all the new skills she had learnt.
Fatima decided that she needed to do an IT course when she found herself struggling to keep up with the basic technological aspects of running her own online business. She admits to being completely computer illiterate prior to joining the course and credits the College for helping her to eventually master using the PC.
She said: “I didn’t even know how to send an email. The teachers on my course were brilliant! Whatever they taught me I was able to absorb. I really enjoyed studying at Hackney Community College!”
