Annual Student Awards Winners 2010: Contribution to the Local Community (Respect)

Posted 8th March

The Robert Levy Foundation Film Summer School gives an opportunity for
budding filmmakers to work within the community, and be encouraged to find
appropriate ways to become better citizens. Also, through the medium of film,
students were tasked with promoting and trying to break down any stereotypes
associated with Hackney.

Harry gave up his summer break to work on this project. He had just progressed
from the BTEC National Diploma in Media Production and was about to start
university. Harry made a music video to the song “RIP Pablo“, which highlights the
consequences of knife crime in Hackney and refers to the tragic death of Robert
Levy. Harry worked hard on this project and could be seen in and around the
college throughout the holidays.

This project was extremely important to him which is shown in the near professional quality of the production. At the actual Robert Levy Foundation Celebration event held at the Hackney Empire, the song was performed on stage with Harry’s music video as the backdrop. This performance and collaboration was greeted with rapturous applause.
