HCC Basketball Star aims for 2012 Gold
Hackney Community College’s female basketball star Gabrielle Boateng hopes to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics, after being selected for official assessment trials.
Gabrielle, who studies BTEC National Sport at HCC, attended the Girls4Gold Olympic Talent Assessment event at Loughborough University, where she was assessed on her physical ability, strength and endurance
The Girls4Gold scheme gives outstanding budding female athletes the opportunity to be coached in world class training facilities which could result in being selected to join the Great Britain team for the London 2012 Olympics
Head of Sport Health and Leisure at HCC Paul Lazarus said: “I was really pleased and proud that Gabrielle made it to the trials. She is a remarkable athlete. It would be great to see her compete at the Games.“
