Annual Student Awards 2015: Student Voice
Posted 3rd March
Travel and Tourism student Kiran was elected as President of the Student Association and Student Governor.
She quickly settled into her role making herself known to students across the College and ensuring their voice was heard.
She took a leading role working with London Citizens to plan and organise a Listening Campaign in order to find out key issues affecting students locally. One of the issues was the lack of work experience placements for young people. Kiran and 130 students became involved in the Listening Campaign which resulted in Hackney 100; the creation of 100 paid work experience opportunities for young people in Hackney.
She also represented the College at a meeting in Parliament with local MPs to discuss student funding issues and the impact of the enforcement of benefit sanctions on adult students.
Congratulations Kiran Kaur!
