Paul’s Gunner make it to the top in coaching
Sports student Paul Oyedokun is using the knowledge and skills gained on the HND Sports course at Hackney Community College to help with his coaching at Arsenal Football Club.
The 20 year old, from Hackney, teaches children to play football for the Premier League club’s community engagement programme, while he works towards achieving his qualifications.
He said: “The HND Sports course is a good opportunity to add to the coaching qualifications and experience I already have. Plus it is at university level so it sets me up for even better career prospects in the future. I am really enjoying it.”
Alongside his course, Paul has an active role as student ambassador for the College, representing and promoting HCC to others at internal and external events. This is a responsibility he takes great pride in, after studying at the College for over three years – and enjoying his experience too!
He first enrolled on the Brickwork Level 1 course and successfully progressed through to Level 3, before starting the HND Sports course in 2011.
“I love being an ambassador for Hackney Community College! “, he added, “It’s a great chance to get valuable work experience, something I’d never had before. Plus you meet new people, make new friends and get paid too!”
