Student caters for African dignitaries at prestigious dinner gala
Hackney Community College Catering student Angela Nkansah prepared a splendid feast for notable African public figures at a grand banquet.
Hundreds of guests, including the Ghanaian High Commissioner and Miss Ghana UK, enjoyed an array of traditional dishes at the celebrations, marking Ghana’s 55th year of independence.
Level 2 student Angela led her own catering team to deliver an impressive menu of African cuisine, which included the popular jollof rice and a tasty meat stew.
Frustrated about being constantly knocked back by unsuccessful job applications, Angela, from Hackney, decided to put her knack for cooking to good use and start her own company.
She said: “I discovered my talent for cooking and decided to start my own business specialising in catering. Since studying at Hackney Community College I have gained a lot more knowledge about the industry and learnt a range of new skills which have definitely helped with my business.”
The young entrepreneur, who runs her own catering and events management company called Serenity, intends to progress to Level 3 at the College to continue learning new techniques to expand her company.
