From UCC to NCC - A taste of life at a London college

Posted 4th December 2017

Twenty students and their tutors from Ullswater Community College (UCC), Cumbria visited New City College (NCC) Hackney to get a taste of life at a London college.

The year 11 and 12 childcare students observed Level 2 and 3 childcare lessons, enabling them to compare the differences in how lessons are delivered at a London college and how different it is from a rural environment.

The students then took a tour of our campus, meeting Student Association President, Rayhan Ahmed, along the way, who spoke to the students about his role in the college and provided some advice for those running for Council at UCC.

The students then took a tour of our One World Nursery, the largest nursery in Hackney, and compared this to their placement settings.

The visit concluded with lunch at Open Kitchen Bar and Restaurant.

Christine Snelgar, Childcare tutor at UCC said: “We are very grateful for you taking the time to show us your campus. The tutors and students are all impressed by the space and size of the campus. Your students are confident and very friendly and everyone made us feel very welcome.”
