Coach Andrea Boreland was named London Division Coach of the Year for leading the Hackney Academy team to an 11-3 record in a highly competitive division.

Hackney Community College’s leading scorer, 18 year old Arbnor Haliti was named in the division’s top five First Team players. Arbnor is in the second year of his level 3 BTEC extended diploma in sport at the college.

Proud of the accolade, Coach Andrea said ““It was a great season in the London Division, with good teams coming in and competing and playing hard every game. I would like to say thank you to my players, who made this possible.”

Hackney’s basketball academy team is one of the best in the country. The squad is sponsored by, and works alongside London Lions – London’s professional basketball team based at the Copper Box in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. 16-19 year-old students studying any course at the college may join the Academy.

The ABL is a high standard league for English college and school teams who take competitive basketball seriously. Weekly competition thoroughly supports the needs of potential elite athletes by giving them the opportunity to test their skills throughout the year.
