Certificate in Inspection and Testing
17th Edition with Amendment 1
If you’re a practising electrician, you will need to comply with the regulations for electrical work. This City & Guilds Certificate ensures you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems.
It covers the 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, which came into force in June 2008. These regulations are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671).
The course is delivered over ten weeks with attendance required on one evening per week. You will study all sections of the latest edition of BS7671, including all amendments. You will need to bring your own copies of the latest edition of BS7671 and the On-Site Guide.
Exam
At the end of the course, there is an open book, online multiple choice exam.
Entry requirements
You should ideally be employed in the trade as a practicing electrician. You will need to have a college interview to enrol.

PAT Testing
Who is it for?
This course is for practising electricians, who are either involved or looking to become involved, in the inspection and testing of electrical equipment (e.g. portable appliances) – and are involved in managing the process of it.
You will gain the knowledge and understanding required to carry out inspections and testing of portable appliances and the requirements for management of testing and inspecting portable appliances.
The course is delivered over two full days, covering the requirements of 2377-11 and 2377-12.
You will need to successfully achieve the inspection and testing qualification (2377-12) before undertaking the management course.
Please bring your own copy of the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing.
Exam
You will need to pass a practical assessment and correctly complete relevant documentation, as well as be assessed via an on-line examination.

Certificate in Inspection and Testing
This course will help qualified electricians who are working in the industry, to develop the knowledge and practical experience to professionally inspect and test electrical installations.
The qualification shows your customers that you’re a competent installer or tester, and are up-to-date with national requirements for the industry (BS7671).
The course is delivered over ten weeks with attendance required on one evening per week. You will need to bring your own copy of the latest edition of BS 7671 and Guidance Note 3.
Exam
Assessment is by written examination and practical assessment.
Entry requirements
You must be a qualified electrician, employed in trade as a practicing electrician. Ideally you should also have work experience of testing in the workplace

Building Regulations Part-P
This course is for qualified electricians or qualified individuals in an allied trade. You should also be practicing your trade in England and Wales, as there are different regulations governing Scotland and Northern Ireland.
It’s ideal for people who need to know how electrical installations in homes can affect the building construction.
The course delivered over ten weeks with attendance required on one evening per week.
Entry requirements
This qualification is only suitable for people practicing their trade in England and Wales due to there being different regulations governing Scotland and Northern Ireland. Admission to the course is by a college interview.
Exam
You will be need to complete one online, multiple choice exam, lasting 40 minutes.
