This qualification enables you to learn counselling skills to help others in either a voluntary or employed situation. The course won’t teach you to be a counsellor but may help you decide whether or not to continue with training in that direction.
The learning is fascinating, exciting and challenging. You’ll develop your knowledge about yourself, your communication and listening skills and of the essential qualities of an effective helping relationship.. and much more!

Anyone who wants to learn more about themselves, how they relate to others and how to listen effectively.
Course content
The course is for a total of 90 hours at 3 hours per week on a Monday evening from 6 to 9pm. It is validated by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) – the biggest counselling Awarding Body in the UK and the only one run by counsellors for counsellors. Our experienced team of tutors are all practising counsellors and we have an excellent track record of successful counselling skills training
Assessment
For internal assessment you keep a regular written review of your learning, guided and supported by your tutor. For external assessment you write your comments about a DVD of a short, one to one listening relationship .

Dementia: introductory course
The course is based on the objectives of the government initiative “Living well with Dementia: a National Dementia Strategy”.
It aims to give an understanding of the definition of dementia and the most common types, causes and symptoms. It aims to identify and discuss ways of supporting individuals with dementia and their families using a person-centred approach.
