Assessing Competence in the Work Environment - Level 3 Award

This course is ideal if your role involves:

  • Assessing candidates against agreed standards of competence using a range of assessment methods
  • Giving candidates feedback on your assessment decisions
  • Contributing to the internal quality assurance process

Units include:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
  • Assess occupational competence in the workplace

Entry requirements:

Industry experience and ideally an NVQ level 2. Must have access to two candidates you can assess in the workplace.

Possible next steps:

Level 4 award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice.

How will the courses run?

  • Three days group training
  • One session 1:1 observation and feedback

There will be a two day group training session. At the end of the two days the candidates will be issued with a detailed action plan and time schedule of what evidence they should collect and for when.

There will be a session planned for 1:1 observation and feedback to the candidate and portfolio building. The third training session will be knowledge input and portfolio building.

The candidates will then have a time schedule to submit their portfolios and evidence. Candidates must stick to the schedule or they risk not achieving the qualification.

Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement - Level 3 Award

Who is it for?

  • Intended for people who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment)
  • This qualification will allow the accredited assessor to assess qualifications such as VRQs and other standards which are assessed in a classroom or training room environment using written and/or oral questioning, exams, tests, etc as the assessment methods.

Units include:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
  • Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.
