London City Hospitality Centre (LCHC)

London City Hospitality Centre is part of Hackney Community College, making it ideally located for the exciting Hospitality industry. With the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner, the demand for qualified hospitality professionals has never been greater.

In East London alone, more than 300 languages are spoken, over 30 ethnic groups live together in harmony and more than 70 national cuisines are available to all. Our Hospitality Centre embraces this and makes it the perfect place for you to study.

We have a wide range of courses running at different times of the day and week, making it easier for you to fit study in around your existing commitments. Whether you’re at school, leaving school, a single parent, already employed, or can commit to a full-study programme, we’re confident you can achieve your goals with us.

Open Kitchen is our onsite training bar and restaurant, which is open to the public. You’ll gain excellent work experience here, preparing you for employment.

Cooking up a career

Michael Bines shows that it’s never too late to get qualified for a new career. Michael, aged 44, studies Professional Cookery at HCC’s London City Hospitality Centre and is en route to becoming a qualified chef after shedding a past life of gangs and petty crime.

Wanting to turn his life around, he joined HCC where he successfully completed levels 1 and 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking in impressive time. He is now on the final stage of his course at the College and well on track to achieving his qualified chef status. We’re confident he’ll achieve his dream of setting up his own Caribbean restaurant.

Michael said: “This is the first time I have achieved something. I am now on my way to being a qualified chef and I must thank Hackney Community College and most of all, my tutor Christopher Skippers for giving me the chance to prove myself.”
