Applied Science

Our applied science success rates are consistently high

with students progressing to top universities including Southampton, Queen Mary, City, Goldsmiths and De Montfort to study a range of subjects from nutrition to mechanical engineering and everything in between!

Our science labs are fantastic and a great space to learn in. Wherever your scientific interests might lie, you’ll need the practical knowledge (of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics) that you will build on one of our Applied BTEC Science courses. With our excellent science laboratories and impressive progression to university, there’s nowhere better to study this increasingly popular and ever-important topic. A high number of the BTEC Applied Science students at New City College – Hackney Campus progressed to university last year to study competitive degrees including Engineering, Psychology, Medical Physiology and Biomedical Science.

Join a high achieving college
In August 2017 our students achieved another set of great results. The overall pass rate was 98% with a high number of our Applied Science year 2 students progressing into higher education – with many accepted onto courses at the prestigious Russell Group of universities (the grouping of the UK’s top 20 universities).

Our commitment is to every individual student
We are extremely proud of all our students and place a high value on their views of the college. Every year we survey all students and they tell us that the college makes them feel safe, that they have made the right choice by choosing to study science at New City College, with the vast majority of the science students saying they would recommend their course to a friend or family member.
