Amy St Hilaire lives in Hackney and progressed to the Foundation Degree at Hackney Community College from the level 3 diploma. She’s now studying the BA (Hons) at London Metropolitan University – a direct progression from the FD. She studies alongside her work.
Amy secured a placement at Hackney’s One World Nursery while she was at college and has continued to work there. She speaks passionately about how the Foundation Degree prepared her for her career and higher level study. “It expanded my knowledge across the whole childcare spectrum. It’s given me great confidence, in my writing and communications; in building relationships with parents and colleagues – and for my career. I could now consider applying for higher level roles, which I couldn’t have considered before.”
Amy’s manager, Childcare Services Manager Nelam Pooni, commented: “Having employees who are progressing through higher level study really supports and enhances the nursery environment, and has a positive impact as a whole”.
